Different data types

- [Instructor] We often think of data as being concrete and calculable, but in user experience, we're frequently exploring people, seeking to understand their goals and outlooks or assessing relative experience, which means we don't always have a hard number or scale to follow. You might hear about a distinction between quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative is just a way to describe that you're gathering counts or numbers, like percentages of conversions or the time it takes to complete something. Quantitative data is unambiguous, but you still need context to interpret the data. For instance, if an updated ecommerce site gets 100 sales in a week, is that good or bad? Well, it depends on a lot of factors, like how many sales did they have before? How big were those purchases? Were there any promotions or special dates? The count is concrete, but the context always matters. So where do we turn for that…
