Different question types

- Multiple choice questions allow people to choose either one, or several options from a list. Normally, lists that are shown with check boxes next to them are designed for people to choose one or more options, whereas lists that are shown with radio buttons next to them are designed for a single choice. Drop-down lists are meant for single responses, and although they take up less room, they do take more clicks to choose from than radio buttons. Even if you can write clear, non-biased questions, with a good set of answer options, it's the options you don't think of that will get you into trouble. Adding a free-form text field lets respondents tell you what's on their mind. Obviously, sometimes you don't want, or need, to hear this. If you just need to know which of three options people prefer, that's fine, but there's also the option to add an Other item to the list so that respondents can add their own answer. Doing so…
