In this course we'll focus on a set of persuasive design patterns that work by appealing to people's emotions. Many persuasive techniques hook into bugs and how our brains are wired. Spaces where emotion takes precedence over logic, just like hackers exploit glitches and software to make systems do things they weren't designed for these brain glitches can be used to persuade people to do things they didn't originally intend to do. Throughout this episode, we'll highlight some of those glitches and then explain how companies can use them to create persuasive products that draw people in and direct them down their preferred path. You'll only understand the power of these persuasive techniques when you see them for yourself, so let's get started.
