- It's a sad reflection on the job situation these days, but you might not even hear back from a company after you've interviewed with them. I think it's rude, but it definitely happens. Remember, recruiters may be sifting through literally thousands of applications for a certain job opening. They definitely aren't going to be responding to everyone who applied. Here, though, I'm talking about interviewing with a company who've then gone quiet on you. If you haven't heard back from a company you've had an interview with, it's acceptable for you to contact them after about one week. Of course, it's important to stay polite, but it's fair enough to reiterate your interest in the company and the job and to ask what the next step in the process is.
