- There's a way to make sure you're hardly ever taken by surprise by an interview question, and that's to have all the answers. Of course, it's not quite that simple, but there's a way to get pretty close. What you have to do is work out your speaking points. What are the things that qualify you for the job? What behavioral examples from your past experiences can you give as evidence? Can you give those examples in under a minute and then elaborate when asked to? If you develop enough speaking points to cover the major skill areas you're going to be asked about, plus some about your key qualities, then you'll have ready answers to most questions. So what is a speaking point? It's a short, factual story that describes one or more of your positive attributes.
