How to reward user research participants
- [Instructor] It's much easier to convince someone to participate in a user research study if you can pay them for their time. The going rate for well-qualified senior business professionals can be $250 or more for a 1 1/2 hour study session. Typical office workers will normally consider giving their time for $150 per session. Students and less hard-to-reach roles might show up for $50 to $75. Of course, you can offer less, but be prepared for people to just not show up. On the day of your study, they'll be weighing up the amount of the gratuity against sleeping in for an extra hour. If you don't have money to give people, there are other ways of rewarding participants, and the dollar cost can be quite a bit lower.
