- In anything other than the smallest and most informal company, it's likely your interview with more than one person. You might start with a screening call from someone in human resources, then with someone who has a similar role to the job opening who can better assess your skills. These might be relatively short phone interviews, maybe only half an hour long and they're also most likely include telling you a little more about the role. These initial screening interviews are partly to check that you are who you say you are, and that you have some relevant skills and experience. But also to see whether you can communicate clearly, and that you're generally the type of person that might fit in the organization. Just to be clear, these screening interviews are intended to see whether you're a match for the advertised position. If it's an intern role, they aren't going to expect an awful lot of real-world experience.…
