Mapping as a tool

- A map is used as a way to understand and navigate terrain. When most people think of a map, they think of a representation of physical Earth and as way to figure out where things are or how to get somewhere. A map in the context of UX is simply a model, diagram or other visual representation of information you have. UX Maps can represent individual components or players in a system, the relationships to one another, and their relative locations. They can also help people understand how to get from one point to another. In reality, a map is just a visual way to represent knowledge and help you make sense of something that's complex. Whether you're a visual learner or not, maps translate data points into something you can literally see making it easier to understand relationships or things at scale.
