- On August 14th, 1945, a photo was taken in Times Square, a sailor coming back from the war embracing a nurse. This photo, which became known as Kissing the War Goodbye, became an overnight symbol of the relief and jubilation that rippled across the U.S. at the end of World War II. One photo and you can instantly feel what it was like that day. How many times have you been gripped by a news story just by looking at the photo or drawn to buy a product because it looked so perfect for you? As humans, we are highly visual creatures. In fact, 90% of the information that we take in every day is visual. So when we talk about storytelling, we can't forget that a picture really is worth a thousand words.
