What is a mobile diary study?

- When you think of a diary, you probably imagine a journal to write daily notes about your life. It's essentially a place where you log or record events and experiences. In market research then, a mobile diary study is a way for your customers or users to capture their insights and experiences, sharing in the moment reactions while they're happening. Let's say you're creating a new app for at-home fitness. You might recruit people who do a daily home workout and ask them to record their screens every time they look up a workout on their phone over the next three days. Maybe you have them take a video of their space so that you can plan what types of workouts to put in the app, what equipment your ideal customer has at home and how much space is actually available in their workout area.
