Who to send your survey to

- The easiest way to find survey respondents is probably to use your existing customers, either through a link on your website or via an e-mail message. The problem is, by using this group you've introduced selection bias. What this means is that the people who respond to your survey will have particular views, behaviors, and experiences simply by virtue of being your customers. For instance, they already know about your product, they know the vocabulary that you use, and they have pre-formed attitudes about your business. It might be that these are exactly the people you're looking for. For instance, there's no point asking non-users how satisfied they are with your support offerings. On the other hand, if you're doing research to help understand what new features to add, you probably want to cast the net wider and find people who would be future users if you considered their needs.
