The importance of understanding code
- Code is hard. Code takes too much time. Code is really frustrating. I've heard so many students comment about learning code through my years of teaching. However, I've never had a student tell me that code was not worth learning, a lesson you should pay attention to. If you will work in the world of website construction, a little bit of knowledge about code will go a long way to understanding trade-offs, issues with construction, and why the web looks and functions the way it does. Here's an analogy. Let's say you wanted to hire someone to build a house. If you started with the paint, the carpet, and the lighting fixtures, that might be super fun for you to think about and go shopping for. But where are you going to put that paint and that carpet?
