- [Instructor] Getting backlinks to your website can be great and it can help you to increase your websites and your individual web page's authority. Which is great for search engine optimization. However, you want to make sure that the backlinks that you do get to your website are from high authority websites or at least websites that are not spammy and websites that are in the same vertical or niche that your website is in. If you are not getting your backlinks from the correct websites, then this can actually have an opposite effect to your overall search engine optimization. So, you may have, for example, purchased some backlinks maybe for your website not knowing that it would harm your site.
