- If you're in a multiple site environment, one of the decisions that will have to be made is do we place or do we not place a global catalog server at that location? And a couple of the decision processes that we'll go through of whether or not we put that global catalog server there. And then we'll look at how do we actually identify a domain controller at a site for being a global catalog. If we choose not to put a global catalog server at the site, then we may run into an issue with users not being able to authenticate through active directory and we'll talk about that also and then how we can come about, in our environment, if we choose not to put a global catalog server there, how we can assure users will get authenticated in the environment. So the first thing we want to talk about is the adding of a global catalog server at a given location.
