- [Instructor] Sometimes you find yourself in a situation where you have a remote office that has enough users that you'd like to have a domain controller locally present to assist with logging on and authentication, but you don't have any IT staff out in the location to help keep the server secure. Microsoft has a solution for this situation. It's called the Read Only Domain Controller. To demonstrate the installation of a Read Only Domain Controller, I'm going to use DC3. I've already installed active directory onto DC1 and DC2. Those are both fully functional domain controllers for the LandonHotel.localdomain. So we'll take DC3, which is currently nothing more than a standalone server, and we will promote it to a Read Only Domain Controller. Here in the Server Manager on DC3, I will tell you that I've already gone through the Add roles and features Wizard to add the Active Directory Domain Services role itself, because again, that process is exactly the same as you would have seen…
