Now that you've got your DNS server built, you've got your active directory integrated zones or you've got your primary and secondary DNS servers built, let's take a look at some of the things we might need to do in order to maintain those DNS servers and or to troubleshoot them in the event that the DNS server service were to fail. So starting off with, we'll be looking at how to maintain the database, things about how to move the database, how to look at the database, how to back it up. We'll look at the options to monitor the database, whether it be the simple things like the event viewer, or full-blown debugging with some of the debugging tools. We'll look at some of the command line tools we can use to troubleshoot DNS, NS lookup, ping, trace route, the DNSCMD utility, and then DNSLint, and then we'll look at a couple of what I'd consider the advanced debugging tools, which are part of the interface.
