- [Instructor] One of the things that you really need to do to make sure that your servers are protected is to secure them as best as you can against malware. What is malware? Well, malware is actually a generic term that means any kind of malicious code that was intended to harm your environment. But if we want to get a little bit more specific, let's take a look at some of the different types of malware. First one is a very common term. In fact, many of these might be common terms to you, but the first one would be just something called a virus. Viruses are a form of malware to where executable code, right? And again, this is malicious executable code, is embedded into either an application or the operating system files themselves, sometimes just within data, or believe it or not, it can even get into some of your hardware components like the BIOS or the boot sector on your hard drive.
