- [Instructor] Computers of any kind, including your servers, need some form of power in order to operate. But in order to give them power that also means that you're going to generate heat. And so anytime we're going to talk about power we have to also talk about cooling so that we can prevent our systems from overheating. So first let's talk about power. And when we say power, we really mean, well electricity. And there are three electrical terms that you should be familiar with when evaluating power for your server. The first is voltage which stands for the force of electricity. And then we have amperage, which has to do with the flow or the current of the electricity. And if you take that force or voltage and multiply it against the current or amperage, you end up with the term, that's probably most important to you as a server administrator, which is wattage which is the actual measurement of electrical usage.…
