- [Instructor] Remote direct memory access technology allows two different computers using their network interface cards to write data from one server to another without involving the processors. This can save a lot of time when sending and receiving data. We can do this in a virtual machine by clicking on Control Panel and go to Device Manager. Now we'll expand the network adapters and we'll go to the properties of our Hyper-V network adapter. Then we'll go the Advanced tab and scroll down until we get to Network Direct RDMA. And by default it is disabled, so you'll need to enable it and click OK. RDMA has always worked on physical adapters, but in Server 2019 it also works on virtual ones. And we could even create quality of service policies on the virtual machines the same way you can through PowerShell on the physical one. You may see the screen blink a few times as it sets this up.
