Receive side scaling (RSS)

- [Instructor] Receive side scaling for virtual machines or virtual receive side scaling is a feature in Windows Server that allows the load from a virtual network adapter to be distributed across multiple virtual processors in a virtual machine. You can do this from a command line or from a GUI. Let's start with the command line and then we'll confirm using our graphical user interface. We'll open a command prompt as the administrator and we'll type the following command netsh interface tcp set global rss=enabled. RSS in this case stands for Receive Side Scaling and you can either set it to enabled or disabled. And when we choose the set global option, what that does is it's going to enable RSS for all network adapters. You could also set per network adapter if you wanted to. We'll hit Enter and we see it's set to OK. Now we'll go into our Control Panel and we'll just confirm all that by going into Device Manager.
