- [Instructor] When it comes to keeping the data on our servers secure, the first and most basic line of defense is the idea of assigning rights and permissions to various user accounts, right? It doesn't matter what operating system you're using. They all have some aspect of this. The one thing I will mention is that this just makes for confusion. But some vendors choose to call that a right and some choose to call that a permission. Now in the world of Microsoft, giving the user the ability to access a document, for instance, that's permission. Again, other vendors might call that a user right to access or an access right. So let's just kind of look at this real quick. Here on my Windows Server 2019 computer. I'm going to go down to the task bar and click on this little folder, which opens up my File Explorer.
