- [Narrator] Lets look at our requirements as we plan for our Software Defined Network. You must have least Windows Server 2016 or newer, you need to add the Hyper-V role so a processor that has virtualization must be available and turned on in the UEFI. After the Hyper-V role is added, we must also add a Virtual switch which we'll do in an upcoming video, as a demonstration. Let's look at the physical requirements, as well. Software Define Networking servers are referred to as compute hosts. They may also host virtual machines and have other roles but they can be dedicated Software Define Network compute hosts as well. You must have the minimum of hardware to run Server 2016 or 2019, but having much more than this is recommended. You must also have enough resources to run other Virtual Machines, if you choose to also hosts VMs on the same server as the compute host. We'll need to plan for Networking hardware as well.
