- [Instructor] Once the server operating system has been installed and you've gotten through some basic, initial configuration, the next thing you need to do is you have to determine what the actual purpose or role for this server is going to be. So any given server has a number of different roles that it could play in your network. All right and again, this is going to be slightly different, depending on what operating system vendor you're going with, but the concept is the same. So if know that this server is going to be a web server, well then, we have to configure it for being a web server. If we know that this server's going to be a DNS Server or a name server, well then, we have to configure it to be a name server. If this server's going to be a domain controller, well then, we have to configure it to be a domain controller.
