- [Instructor] So let's talk a little bit about storing data on our networks or on our servers. Now, when it comes to the actual storage technologies on our servers, we're really talking about our hard drives, and we have two main types of hard drives available. Now we have the traditional kind, which are magnetic, which is the kind of drive which actually has magnetic disks and a read/write head and a whole lot of moving parts. Now there's still plenty of these types of hard drives out there, because from a cost factor, these types of drives can be gotten very inexpensively, but the more popular kind that we're seeing every day, especially as the prices are coming down, is SSD which is a solid state drive, which is one that has no moving parts.
