- Now that you've installed DFS, you've configured DSF, we've looked at how to troubleshoot DSF, let's roll all this up into a nutshell and just do a little bit of a review and summarize some of the things that we've talked about. First of all, when you use DFS, DFS is an environment that allows us to make a centralized location for users to be able to find their files. When we configure and install DFS, after the installation is done, DFS can then be installed as a domain based or stand alone based environment. Keep in mind if you do a stand alone based environment you can only create full tolerance by using a clustered DFS environment. If we decide to use a domain based environment we'll use active directories replication model and we can also use the DFS-R, or the distributive file system - replication environment so that we can have multiple DFS servers or namespace servers and multiple DFS targets so that we can have full tolerance and also have the ability to load balance in the…
