What you need to know

Before I get started telling you about server 2012 installation and configuration, there are a couple of things I need to let you know. First, I need to let you know that the version of server 2012 I'm using for this course is the Datacenter version of the operating system. This can make a difference to you if you are using a different version of server 2012. However, the only difference should be that, occasionally, I may have some additional options on my screen that you won't. This won't matter for this course because the additional options will not be used. I just don't want to cause any confusion if you see a few additional options on my screen that are not on your system. I also need to let you know that I'll be using Release 2 of the operating system to teach you how to install and configure Server 2012. The reason it's important to know what release I'm using is because Release 2 behaves slightly differently than Release 1. If you're using Release 1 on your system, you will notice the difference. If that happens, don't worry, most things will still be the same once we get everything going. For our purposes, the differences aren't significant enough to change how the operating system works or the way things are installed.
