- [Instructor] You may have noticed several things not asked or answered during the installation of Server 2016. Two of the most important are the computer's name and it's network address. These should really be the first things you set on a newly installed server. Personally, I recommend that you attend to these even before worrying about setting the clock. We'll take a look at the network address first. TCPIP is the protocol of choice for the internet and even the smallest of networks, so you can be assured that IP addresses are the types of addresses that you're going to be using on your network for some time. I'm going to continue using my planning worksheet to note the IP configuration for this server with a minimum of four things, an address, a mask, a default gateway, and a name server. I've obtained this information from my network architect and I'm going to add it to my planning worksheet so that I'll have it to apply to my server. So here we are, we're back on our Windows…
