- [Narrator] When you encounter a problem with the remote desktop connection that's configured with a VPN and you know the host computer is turned on and connected to the internet, your next step is to check your VPN connection. Let's go to start, settings, and look at network and internet. Here, click VPN. First, verify that these two settings are enabled. Allow VPN over metered networks and allow VPN while roaming. It could be that you're on that kind of network and you just can't get connected. Now try to connect. You can connect from the task bar. I'll try to connect to my company VPN. I'll have to type in a username and password, and I'll give that a shot here. It's verifying my sign in information, but let's see if it works or not. It's connecting, so far so good. It doesn't look like this is going to connect. I'll click cancel. And let's go back to settings. Let's look at some more options. Click your VPN one time and click advanced options.
