Configure the Remote Desktop host

Before you can connect to a computer using Remote Desktop, the computer you want to connect to must be configured to accept Remote Desktop connections, and must be running Windows 10 Professional or Business. This feature is not enabled by default, because leaving it open all the time would be a security risk. You can enable Remote Desktop from the System Properties window on any compatible Windows PC, as well as almost all legacy machines. In Windows 10, you can access Remote Desktop options from the Settings window as well. I prefer the System window, which I have open here, because it gives me more options. If you want to follow along, type Control Panel in the Task Bar, click it in the results, and go to the System and Security area. Under System, click Allow remote access. Once there, tick the box Allow remote connections to this computer. If you don't see this option, the computer needs to be upgraded.
