- [Teacher] If you are on a local network and you want to use remote desktop to connect to another computer on that same network, it's fairly straightforward. Once both are configured properly, you simply type the name or IP address of the computer to connect to in the Remote Desktop app and click Connect. Here's an example. This is a very simple local network with one laptop and an office PC that's in a different area of the house. To connect from the laptop to the office PC, you open the Remote Desktop app. From here, you simply type the name of the computer to connect to and click Connect. You may be prompted with this, do you trust the connection? And if you do, click Connect. You can see that the connection is ready and all I have to do is type the password. I'll click Cancel. This time let me show you what happens if I try to type the name of the computer I have in my office in another area of the city. Here I'll type, MyCompanyPC, and I'll click Connect.
