- [Narrator] Windows Firewall with Advanced Security comes with built in inbound and outbound connection rules to protect your computer from unwanted network traffic. Rules exist for things you might be familiar with, like Microsoft Office and file and printer sharing, but you can create your own rules to further define how Windows Firewall should behave. I'll open Windows Firewall with Advanced Security to show you how. I'm going to go ahead now and right-click outbound rules and click new rule to show you the types of rules you can create. Let's take a look at each one of these. You create program rules based on specific applications that are installed on your computer, like Internet Explorer. You create port rules based on port numbers. Port numbers define specific types of network traffic. You can choose to activate predefined rules, too.
