How to pick a Wi-Fi channel

- [Instructor] I'm logged into a wireless access point. And one of the things that we can troubleshoot it has to do with channels and the channel mode. So as we see under 2.4 gigahertz and five gigahertz we have this channel HT mode. If we hit the drop down, it allows us to make this a 40 megahertz, 20/40 or just 20. And it defaults to 20. And on the five gigahertz side, it defaults to 40 but we also have 80 and 20 as well. So what do we pick? Because this also has to do with the channel that we're going to use as well. Although the Option for 40 and 2040 is there the best selection here would be 20 megahertz. So if you see the set to 40 or 20/40 then you'll want to change it back to 20 unless you only have one access point. If you have one access point, then you're fine going with 40 megahertz or even 20/40, if you have just a couple of access points but if you have more than that then the problem with going to 40…
