Intro to VPN technologies

- [Instructor] VPNs, or virtual private networks, allows the client to connect from their non-office location into the corporate network and use the same services for accessing data and applications as though they were inside the corporate local area network. The client connects from their PC to the VPN device across the internet. The data is then securely encrypted. The destination device can be a firewall or a server and VPNs work with either a site-to-site type of connection or a client-to-site connection. Now, Microsoft is trying to rename client-to-site to be called point-to-site. So don't be confused when you see that. As far as the destination device, it can be either the firewall or the server, as I mentioned earlier. If it's the server, the firewall has to pass the traffic through it to get back to the server and then back out to the internet. If it's the firewall, then the destination can be the firewall and…
