- [Tutor] To create or host a remote desktop session, you need something other than a home version of Windows. Although the list is long, hosts can be created on Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise, Windows eight Professional or Enterprise, Windows seven Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate, and more. Windows server additions can also be used. You can see here, the Windows edition is Windows 10 Pro, which means I can host a session on this computer. You don't have to have a professional version of Windows to join a session, though. You have a lot more choices. Let's look at what can be used. If you have a Windows PC or laptop, chances are good that you don't need anything but to open the remote desktop client that's built in. You can type in remote desktop to get started.
