- [Instructor] One thing that IT administrators are most worried about is having the remote user get hacked. So what can hackers do? Well, they can steal or encrypt your data. If they steal the data, obviously it could be posted online elsewhere or used against the company. If they encrypt the data, then the data is useless, although it's still there, you have to pay a ransom to potentially get it back. They could steal the identity of the person and open up credit cards and other things that could end up ruining the person's credit. They could attempt to reach corporate data assets if the user is logged in through remote desktop or through VPN, then they gain access to the desktop of the remote user, and they could potentially get access to the data assets of the corporation.
