Show or hide file extensions

- [Instructor] File extensions help us identify different types of files. But sometimes, file extensions are hidden. You can choose whether the extensions are visible for all files. In File Explorer, go to the View Ribbon. Enable the option to show file name extensions. The extension will be shown for each file. The three or four letters after the period is the extension. It tells us what type of file you're looking at. If you want to see more information about the type for each file, go back to the View Ribbon and switch to the Details view. In the Type column, you will see the file type for each file. This is helpful if you don't know what the extensions mean, and over time, you'll start to learn which extensions go with each file type.
