- [Narrator] Windows Update normally pulls both Feature and Quality Updates directly from Microsoft servers over the internet. However, when you use Delivery Optimization, you can use Peer-to-Peer file sharing to receive updates. With Peer-to-Peer updates, if a device is actively sharing content to other PCs, the device may be slowed down. I've personally not seen this in practice but if a device has a low specification, you might need to disable peer-to-peer delivery for that specific device, or increase the specification of the device. Microsoft claims that the Windows Update Delivery Optimization does not slow down your internet connection and uses a limited portion of the idle upload bandwidth. This is used only when your device is idle. However, this still consumes your bandwidth and this can be a problem if you have limited bandwidth or the device is on a metered connection.
