- [Instructor] Windows Defender is more than just anti-virus. It's whitelisting, it's blacklisting, behavioral analysis, virtualized security, a host intrusion prevention system, and zero-day protection. If you're like most people, Windows Defender brings an array of features and functionality that have evolved rapidly in recent years, leaving you with some questions about what's possible with Defender in Windows 10. Many of these features were developed with business customers in mind, so generally speaking you can configure these with Active Directory group policy and Microsoft Intune. A very specific feature of virtualization-based security in Windows 10 is virtual secure mode, or VSM. VSM uses the Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisor installed directly on the computer's hardware to run specific processes and data in containers to isolate them from the rest of the OS and apps.
