- So far, we've discussed mostly live streaming solutions that you can use basically for free, with no real investment in infrastructure. But if you want to start getting serious and get into live streaming some live events or creating shows with more elaborate, complex production values, you might want to upgrade your gear. The easiest route is Wirecast Pro, which is the upgraded version of Wirecast Play, which we've been using here. If you upgrade with a professional license, you can get multiple camera inputs. You can edit your shots with inserts, different layers, lower thirds, chroma key, green screen backgrounds, and even 3D virtual sets. If you want to upgrade from the webcam to a professional camera, you can use a Webcaster X1 USB interface. This is the device that can take the input from any HDMI video camera and convert it to a USB signal that can be understood as a webcam.
