- [Instructor] One of the hard things about choosing a platform is they all have different pricing schemes. You can't really compare them on a one-to-one basis. WooCommerce is technically free, while Shopify and BigCommerce have a $30 a month plan. But of course, WooCommerce requires a WordPress site, and hosting for that site can cost anywhere from 10 to $250 a month, with the typical fee being around 25. And then Shopify and BigCommerce look similar. However, Shopify is going to require a bunch of additional apps, while BigCommerce has a lot of features built in, and there are extra benefits, like Shopify and BigCommerce giving merchants a built-in discount on transactions. With WooCommerce, you have to negotiate that yourself, and you can only do that once you have a ton of transactions coming in. From a budget perspective, the danger is in all the add-ons.
