- [Instructor] Before we can talk about online payment, we, first, have to talk about security. Now, for those of you who lean towards a hosted platform, like Shopify or BigCommerce, they take care of most of this for you. When a platform is hosted, they already load pages over https, as well as having security for your account, in general. If you don't know anything about online security, this means there's a lot less for you to learn. If you're using a self-hosted platform, you'll have to configure your own SSL certificate and make sure your pages load over https. The good news is it's become much easier to get an SSL certificate over the last couple of years with Let's Encrypt. Your host should be able to set up one of these for you for free. And, it should only take a few minutes to force your site to load over https.
