- [Instructor] There are a number of different special characters and symbols that don't appear on your keyboard that you may want to use in a Word document. In fact, there may be some that you use over and over, and it's a bit of a hassle having to go through the insert tab on the ribbon, locating the character, inserting it, and then repeating that process every time you need it. So in this week's Word tip, what we're going to do is create a button up here on our quick access toolbar for those special characters we like to use. I'm using this file called Price List076, you can open it up if you have the exercise files, or work with one of your own documents, but as you can see in this table, we have some numbers representing the price per ounce, and they should be cents. Well, the cents sign, if you look at the keyboard, unless you have a special one, is not there, and you need to go through the process of inserting it from the list of symbols you get access to here in Word.
