- The workflow in almost every film ever is to hand the film over to the composer to create the soundtrack only after the film is shot and edited, and usually not even until the film has reached picture lock which means editing is completely done. While I completely understand the mechanics and the workflow issues behind this process, I can't say that I like it too much. Music to me is everything. When you see the opening credits with that music nothing is happening. No story, no characters, nothing, but there is a definite tone and almost all of that comes from the music. (tranquil music) Some filmmakers don't like to admit how impactful music is on the film, but in my opinion it's impossible to overstate how important music is to a movie. So I actually started began writing the musical score while I was still writing the film.
