You may notice that the finished result doesn't look like you want it to; go back to the template and adjust formatting to address any problems.
- [Instructor] We are all done with our merge. We saved this document, however, so that we can use it again later if we wanted to or just to have it for our records. Sometimes, however, before you finish and merge, you may have found some things that didn't look right when you previewed the results. For example, still in the Mailings tab, I'm going to click Preview Results. I do notice that this area down here at the bottom and this address block at the top is a little bit more spaced out than I would like it to be. One thing I do want to show you is that once you've edited and linked a recipient list, you can go back to the Home ribbon tab and work on this like it was any other normal Word document. This is very important. Your Mailings are going to be all linked. You don't have to do anything again with them. I'm still in the preview mode. What this means is that you can continue to add text. You can format the text using the Home ribbon tab buttons. And you can change the font properties. So I'm going to click and drag and highlight all this text, and I'm going to change the spacing. I'll go over to the Layout tab. And here I can see that after, there is an eight point space. I'm going to change this to zero. That looks much more like a proper address block that I'd like to see. I'm going to go ahead and do this at the bottom too so that my title looks a little bit nicer. I do like the look of that. And now when we come back to our Mailings ribbon tab at any time, everything's still here. In fact, I can untoggle Preview Results and go back to those fields. Now, if you previewed them and things still look weird, for example, some data doesn't appear in the right spots, you can check this. You can click Match Fields at any time. And I know we've done this before, but I do want to show you that you can do it at any time right from the ribbon tab. From here, you can come down and see all the fields that the Word document is looking for and then use the pull-downs to match up to those header fields in your Excel file. Make sure everything is lined up just the way it needs to be. At any time, you can go back to Finish & Merge and print or email your documents. So we're all done with our mail merge. We've done a document, and we've done the corresponding envelopes, and we've gotten the formatting just the way we want for the perfect letters.
