- [Instructor] Citations are another type of source similar to footnotes and endnotes and you use a citation to say, this is where I got this information from. This is the website, the book, the movie, the article that I was watching or reading when I retrieved this information. So citations are about giving credit. Citations are also about insuring that when someone wants to check the validity of things you write they have an easy way to do that. And this is the current version of our employee handbook and there are two different places I'd like to enter a citation. On is from a website, so I'm going to click where I want to enter the citation and I'm going to go to references. The first thing I'll need to do is choose the style guide that I'm using. Most of the major style guides are here and are supported by Microsoft Word. Some of them are specific to specific institutions or to different disciplines or fields of study.
