Prepare for the test and review learning objectives

- [Woman] Let's talk about how to prepare for the MOS exam. First, what to study We've inserted into your chapter one file folder a list of objectives for the Word 2016 Core MOS Exam. The numbers listed for each objective correspond to the numbers in the video series. So, for example, starting with chapter two: Create and Manage Documents, Styles and Properties. We'll learn how to create new documents using templates, converting PDF files, and inserting text from an external data source. We'll learn the settings available in page setup, how to apply document themes, styles and style sets, how to create bookmarks, how to use a navigation pane, and so much more. Please refer back to this list of objectives frequently to make sure you're comfortable with each one and understand all of the objectives that may be on your exam. Next, how should you study? First of all, watch all of the videos in each chapter and then complete the challenge exercises at the end of each chapter. We have created challenge exercises that will reinforce all of the skills you learn in each of the videos. We've also allotted a specific amount of time for the completion of each challenge exercise, so make sure you can complete those challenge exercises within the assigned time. If you're having trouble doing that, you might want to go back and re-watch the videos in that chapter and then retake the challenge again. You can also watch my solution video to see how I completed each of the tasks. Just a note about the challenge exercises: When you see a task regarding changing word option settings, for instance, you might find that your computer is already configured with that setting and you won't need to change anything. Now during the live exam, you'll be working in a controlled environment, so if you're asked to change to setting in word options, the setting will not already be made and you'll be able to complete that task. Next, practice practice practice. I can't emphasize enough how important it is to keep practicing to keep your newly learned skills sharp. There's nothing that's really difficult on my challenge or the live exam. It's knowing how to quickly complete all of the tasks, and that means that you know what's on each of the ribbons and where all the commands are located, and you're comfortable performing all of these tasks. Also, complete the full-length practice exam at the end of the video series. We've created a practice Word 2016 Core MOS challenge that emulates the exam that you'll be taking. You should be able to complete the practice exam for this course in less than 40 minutes. Why? Well you'll have 30 tasks to complete on the live exam and so repeating the time-based practice exam will get you accustomed to completing tasks quickly. When you take the live exam, you'll have 50 minutes to complete all of the tasks and the best case scenario is that you finish the questions early and have time to review your answers or any tasks that you skipped before you submit your final exam. Finally, practice some more. You'll perform better if you can get used to taking a timed exam and jumping from one area of expertise to another.
