Working with key crew in pre-production

- Most crew members are there only for production, but some crew members will have valuable knowledge and experience that you'll need whilst still in pre-production. These crew members should probably be hired much sooner so they could be more involved during pre-production. The first assistant director is, perhaps, one of the most important team members to bring on early. They usually help with the schedule and the budget. The director of photography, or DP, is also an essential person to hire early. You'll wanna coordinate with the DP to discuss, you know, the camera system that you're gonna use for production, the visual style, to coordinate with the art department on things like wardrobe, and help create the Shot List. You should also hire and meet with the art department, as soon as possible, as they will have props to make, or wardrobe to find or create, or sets to create or dress, and that stuff can, you know, take a lot of time.
