Activating Akismet for spam protection
- [Instructor] Earlier in this course I mentioned that you shouldn't use captchas because they're bad for the user experience and that's certainly true. But sometimes you might have bots that hit your site and fill out your contact form trying to convince you to buy something and that can be really annoying. So if you have any amount of spam getting through it might be worth looking into a few antispam solutions. One of those is called Akismet and it's designed specifically for Wordpress. You've likely seen this before it's one of the two default plugins when you install Wordpress. Primarily it's used for comment spam but it also integrates with the Jetpacked contact form, so let's go to our site and set this up. I'll go to my site and under Plugins you'll likely see Akismet already installed. If you don't, you can add it by searching for Akismet, I'll click Activate which turns it on and once you do, you should see a button encouraging you to connect to the free service. I'll click…
