- [Instructor] So now that we know how to find secure themes, let's review some best practices for keeping them secure over the life of your WordPress website. The best practices for making sure your secure theme remains that way are basically the same as for plugins, update consistently and remove inactive themes when you no longer need them. I do recommend having one inactive theme installed at all times. If something goes wrong with your main theme, it's handy to be able to deactivate that theme and swap over to a default one temporarily. I like to use one of the WordPress default themes, for example, Twenty Twenty, Twenty Twenty-One, because I know that they look good. Just make sure to update both of those themes whenever updates are available. The theme you chose may recommend certain plugins to use alongside it.
