- [Instructor] We are now ready to transfer the WordPress files from our computer to our web host. There are numerous ways of doing this. When first getting started, the easiest way is to use a free FTP client. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. FTP makes it possible to transfer files to and from the server. FTP is an easy way to transfer files, but it is not as secure as SFTP, which stands for Secure File Transfer Protocol. Using SFTP is recommended, but it involves different steps to get set up. Ask your web host about how to connect using SFTP if preferred. From the user's perspective, both FTP and SFTP work the same way and the steps for using either are very similar. As mentioned in the Getting Started video, you should've received an email from your web host that provides the necessary credentials for connecting via FTP.
